How to wear a coordinated set

Two pieces cut from one cloth. Wear them together, then wear them apart.

A coordinated set is two pieces cut from one length of cloth, dyed or printed in the same batch so the colour matches exactly. Worn together they read as one long line. Worn apart they are two of the most useful pieces you will own.

Together

Keep everything else quiet. White trainers or flat sandals, no belt, one piece of jewellery. Tuck nothing in: the shirts in our sets are cut short and boxy to sit just above the waist of the trouser, so a sliver of the body shows when you move. Let it.

Apart, the top

The Jaali overshirt goes over a white tank and your oldest jeans. The Leheriya camisole goes under the Anaar jacket. The Gulabi shirt goes over a swimsuit.

Apart, the bottom

A wide trouser in a colour this strong wants a plain top in a colour from the street: raw cotton, black, grey marl. The Leheriya wrap skirt works with a white shirt knotted at the waist.

One rule

If you wear the set together, wear it with the same shoes you would wear with jeans. A set is a uniform, not a costume.
